News 22/03/2025 The world's first newspaper created entirely with artificial intelligence has been published

An Italian newspaper has announced that it is the first in the world to publish an issue entirely developed by artificial intelligence. This was reported by The Guardian.

  • The initiative by the conservative-liberal daily newspaper Il Foglio is part of a month-long journalistic experiment aimed at demonstrating how artificial intelligence technology is affecting "our work style and our days," said the newspaper's editor, Claudio Cerasa.

The four-page Il Foglio AI was included as a supplement to the newspaper and made available on newsstands and online starting Tuesday.

"This will be the world's first daily newspaper on the newsstands entirely created by artificial intelligence," said Cerasa. "Artificial intelligence was used for everything, including preparing texts, headlines, quotes, conclusions, and sometimes even sarcasm." He added that the role of journalists in this newspaper was limited to "asking questions to artificial intelligence and reading the answers."

The experiment is being conducted at a time when news organizations worldwide are trying to determine how to use artificial intelligence. Earlier this month, the Guardian reported that BBC News intends to use artificial intelligence to provide more personalized content to the public.

The first page of Il Foglio AI features an article about US President Donald Trump. Also on this page is an article about Russian President Vladimir Putin concerning "20 years of broken promises, torn agreements, and betrayed words."

The articles are structurally simple and clear, written without grammatical errors. However, interestingly, none of the articles published on the news pages directly quote people.

On the last page, letters to the editor created by artificial intelligence were published, one of which asked whether artificial intelligence would replace humans in the future. The answer was: "Artificial intelligence is a great innovation, but it still doesn't know how to order coffee without incorrectly adding sugar."

Cerasa stated that Il Foglio AI reflects a "real newspaper" and is a product of "news, debate, and provocations." However, he also noted that it will serve as a testing ground to demonstrate "in practice" how the technology works in producing a daily newspaper using artificial intelligence.

"This is just another Il Foglio - created with intelligence, don't call it artificial," Cerasa said.
