The United States-based non-profit organization Action For Nature (AFN) annually holds the International Young Eco-Hero Awards. This competition is organized to recognize and reward successful individual initiatives and projects of children aged 8-16 years, aimed at protecting and preserving nature.

    Applications for the 2025 season of this competition are currently being accepted. Applications are accepted in English.

Winners will be rewarded as follows:

• Up to $1000 cash reward
• Custom Certificate
• Winners and their projects in the media
• An opportunity to join the Eco-Hero Alumni Facebook group.

The requirements and conditions for participation in the competition are as follows:

• Participate in projects related to the protection of the natural world, environmental health, research or promotion.
• The project should be based on the actions and initiative of the participants, and projects designated as duties by the teacher or other responsible person are not accepted.
• The project duration must be at least 6 months and completed on the eve of completion or within the last year.
• If the project consists of an invention, some tests must be conducted before the application is submitted.
• Applicants must be between the ages of 8-16 as of February 28, 2025.
• Projects, essays, or reports on pets or animals held in captivity are not accepted.
• Previous winners of the contest, AFN board members, active reading panel members or judges and their close relatives are not eligible to participate.
• Applications must be submitted in English.

Applications are evaluated based on several criteria, including but not limited to:

• originality
• difficulty level
• organizational issues
• project time duration
• influence
• use of external resources (e.g. library, experts, media, community leaders)
• achievement rate
• environmental impact

   In addition to entering the personal information requested in the application form, candidates must also answer the project-related questions in detail.
