The Writers' Union of Uzbekistan, in cooperation with the Agency for Information and Mass Communications, the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan, and the Republican Center for Spirituality and Enlightenment, announce an international award competition in the field of literary translation named after Muhammad Rizo Ogahiy.

The purpose of this is to adequately encourage the work of dedicated translators who widely promote national literature in the world, translate the best works of world literature into Uzbek and present them to readers, popularize reading among young people, and further increase interest in the works of Uzbek writers in foreign countries.

This international literary competition, which is planned to be held for the first time in Uzbekistan, accepts translated works published in book form or published in print, periodical, and electronic literary publications over the past five years from the date of publication.

The international competition is held in the following areas, and works of no less than the established volume are accepted for it:

▪️ the best translation of works of Uzbek literature and prose into foreign languages (at least ten printed sheets);

▪️ the best translation of poetic works of Uzbek literature into foreign languages (at least five printed sheets);

▪️ the best translation of examples of Uzbek children's literature into foreign languages (at least five printed sheets);

▪️ the best translation into Uzbek of prose works created in foreign languages (at least ten printed sheets);

▪️ the best translation into Uzbek of poetic works created in foreign languages (at least five printed sheets);

▪️ the best translation into uzbek from examples of children's literature created in foreign languages (at least five printed sheets).

Also, translated works related to the dramaturgy genre are considered based on the directions indicated in this paragraph.

Works for the international competition will be accepted by the Writers' Union of Uzbekistan until September 1, 2025.

Each of the winners is awarded a special diploma, a badge, and a one-time monetary prize in the amount of three hundred times the basic calculated value.
