In Namangan, a man was detained after receiving 18 million soums by promising to enroll a citizen in a higher education institution. The Department under the Prosecutor General's Office reported the case.
According to the department, the suspect told the citizen he could enroll them in the 3rd year of the Andijan Institute of Economics and Pedagogy and demanded 18 million soums for this. Officers from the Namangan regional and city divisions of the Department for Combating Economic Crimes carried out an operation. The suspect was caught with physical evidence while receiving the agreed sum.
A criminal case has been opened under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code, and investigative actions are ongoing.
The report also recalled an earlier case in Tashkent, where a man demanded 20 thousand dollars for enrolling a citizen at the Tashkent State University of Economics and was detained while receiving 13 thousand dollars.
Promises of a “guaranteed place” at university are often fraudulent. Admission follows an established procedure based on DTM test results and official lists. No one should ever pay for admission. If anyone demands money, applicants should immediately contact law enforcement.
