The Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature named after Alisher Navoi, one of the most prestigious higher educational institutions in Uzbekistan, is aimed at enhancing the prestige of the Uzbek language in Uzbekistan and internationally, promoting Uzbek literature, folklore, national values, implementing state policy to ensure Uzbekistan's worthy place in world civilization, studying the spirituality, history, culture, and philosophy of the Uzbek people alongside the Uzbek language and literature, and preparing qualified specialists for the implementation of this goal.
According to the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated May 13, 2016, the university was established on the basis of the faculties of Uzbek philology of the National University of Uzbekistan named after Mirzo Ulugbek and Uzbek language and literature of the Tashkent State Pedagogical University named after Nizami.

In 1918, the Faculty of Literature and Philosophy of Central Asian State University was opened. This faculty has also been the basis for several independent universities today. In 1921, the Faculty of Oriental Studies of the Central Asian State University was established. Later, an independent institute and several faculties were separated from this faculty. In 1935, the Tashkent State Pedagogical Institute was established, and first and foremost, the Faculty of Uzbek Language and Literature was established. At the same time, the Central Asian State University also operated. In 1942, the Faculty of History and Philology was established at the Central Asian State University. This faculty was considered a center for many famous scientists and artists. In the 1950s, the Faculty of History and Philology was established within the Tashkent State Pedagogical Institute. This faculty is the oldest and largest faculty of the institute. In 1956, the Central Asian State University was renamed Tashkent State University and the Faculty of Philology (Uzbek, Russian, Romance-German Languages and Journalism) was established. In 1998, the Tashkent State Pedagogical Institute was granted university status and the Faculty of Uzbek Language and Literature was reorganized.
The Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature has established and successfully operates scientific councils for the award of scientific degrees of Doctor of Science (DSc) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in 8 specialties.
Currently, the university employs more than 50 teachers. In particular, several professors, such as Bakhodir Karimov, Zulkhumor Kholmonova, Anvar Buronov, Uzak Jurakulov, Javlon Jovliev, Kazakboy Yuldashov, Dilnavoz Yusupova, Nurboy Jabborov, and Olim Usmanov, who have won the love of readers, teach students.

Today, the university has 17 departments and the following 4 faculties:

The Information and Resource Center of the Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature named after Alisher Navoi has about 30,000 artistic, scientific, popular science, socio-political literature of 10,000 titles, more than 300,000 electronic resources, and about 5,000 mobile books.

The university has memorandums and agreements with more than 50 international scientific institutions and educational institutions. In particular, active cooperation has been established with universities such as Piskent, Ankara, Yildirim Boyazid, Kultepa, Mashhad, Baku, and Gazi.

Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature named after Alisher Navoi has 2 student dormitories (SS) with a capacity of 670 seats. Life is constantly very hot in the TTS. In particular, the library created for them operates 24 hours a day. The establishment of a Wi-Fi zone in the TTJ, the organization of inter-level competitions and the holding of various festivals and intellectual games are undoubtedly unforgettable events of the golden age.
