The Nizami Tashkent State Pedagogical University is recognized as one of the leading pedagogical higher educational institutions in the CIS countries.
University history
It was established on September 14, 1935, in accordance with the Decree of the Commissariat of Public Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. 13/64, on the basis of the Pedagogical Faculty of the Central Asian University. This institution operated from 1953 to 1998 under the name of the Tashkent Pedagogical Institute. Since 1947, it has been named after the Azerbaijani poet and enlightener Nizami. After that, on February 24, 1998, by the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan, it was granted the status of a university. Currently, the total area of the university is 223,505 square meters, in particular, the green area is 97,606 square meters.
Over 300 thousand graduates of the university over their almost 90-year history are actively involved in the development of the education system not only in Uzbekistan, but also in various countries around the world.
Siddik Rajabov, Shonazar Shoabdurakhmanov, Erkin Yusupov, Pulat Habibullaev, Mazluma Askarova, Zulfiya, Maksud Shaykhzoda, Turob Tula, Mirmuhsin, and folk artist Malik Nabiyev, who graduated from the university, are also representatives of science, art, and literature.

Corresponding members of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan, the Academy of Humanities of Kazakhstan, the Academy of Agricultural Sciences of Uzbekistan, the Russian Academy of Education, 244 candidates of sciences, associate professors, 46 doctors of sciences, many professors, qualified teachers work on scientific works in various fields.

There are many well-known personalities among university graduates. For example, active people in our society, such as Z. Nuriddinov, Shukrullo, Shuhrat, Said Ahmad, U. Abdurazzokov, G. Gulom, P. Mumin, I. Sultanov, Academician Shaniyazov, Lieutenant General Khudaybergenov, and artist N. Gilmanova, graduated from this university.

Currently, the university has 24,338 students. Of these, 5,649 are boys and 18,689 are girls. All educational buildings, laboratories, information resource center, electronic library, information technology center, printing house, sports complex, museum, retraining and advanced training centers, training camp, student dormitories and canteens are at the disposal of students and professors.

В феврале 2023 года ООО "Elegant invest" начало строительство 14-этажного здания на 1500 мест на основе государственно-частного партнерства по адресу: улица Шота Руставели, 105, Яккасарайский район университета, и строительные работы были завершены в мае того же года, и было сдано в эксплуатацию новое студенческое жилье.
