Tashkent State University of Economics
Tashkent State University of Economics is a prestigious higher education institution in Uzbekistan that trains specialists in economics, management and finance. The university is located in Tashkent city.
History
On 13 August 1931, based on a decision of the Council of People's Commissars of the former Soviet Union, the Central Asian Institute of Finance and Economics was established on the basis of the economics and social sciences faculties of Turkestan State University. The institute officially began its work on 1 September 1931. In 1939, the first postgraduate program was organized at the institute. In 1946, the Leningrad Institute of Accounting and Economics joined the Tashkent institute, and two new faculties were opened. In 1993, a branch of the university was established in Samarkand. In 2024, by decision of the head of state Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the Tashkent Institute of Finance and the Fiscal Institute under the State Tax Committee were merged into the university.
Faculties and programs
The university operates the Faculties of Economics, Accounting and Audit, Corporate Governance, Information Systems in Economics, and International Tourism, as well as a master's program and a part-time department. There are 24 departments at the university. Bachelor's, part-time and master's programs cover economics, management, finance, marketing, logistics, statistics, artificial intelligence, tourism and many other fields. The university maintains regular cooperation with foreign higher education institutions. Between 1991 and 2019, more than 200 foreign students studied at the university and more than 700 foreign professors and lecturers worked there. The university is ranked 23rd among higher education institutions in Central Asia and 3rd among those in Uzbekistan.
