Reposts 26/05/2025 Will they return to traditional exams? Will exams now be taken in writing?

In the USA, sales of notebooks have sharply increased: universities are returning to paper exams due to students' use of artificial intelligence. In many universities in the USA, sales of traditional examination notebooks (blue books in blue covers) have sharply increased. This situation arose after students began to widely use artificial intelligence, writes The Wall Street Journal. According to the data, over the past two academic years, exam notebook sales have increased by more than 30% at the University of Texas, almost 50% at the University of Florida, and 80% at the University of California's Berkeley campus. The reason for this is that students' use of artificial intelligence has become so widespread that young people are becoming illiterate.Teachers are forced to return to handwritten exams to assess their knowledge.

Interestingly, every summer, when students and pupils go on vacation, the use of ChatGPT decreases significantly. Although handwritten exams are effective in preventing deception using artificial intelligence, many teachers are hesitant about this method. They believe that students should learn to use AI tools effectively, as these technologies will become part of their future professional lives. However, for now, traditional "blue notebooks" remain one of the few reliable ways to check students' actual knowledge.
