Research in Industrial Projects for Students (RIPS) is a research program in industrial projects designed by the University of California, Los Angeles, USA, for gifted undergraduate students studying in mathematics, computer science, and related fields. The program provides students with the opportunity to work in teams on real research projects offered by industry or the public sector, which are the program's sponsors. Each team, with the support of its academic and industry mentors, investigates the problem and presents the results orally and in writing at the end of the program.
RIPS-LA students live in dormitories on the campus of the University of California, Los Angeles, and work on a project at the Institute for Pure & Applied Mathematics (IPAM). The program envisages the implementation of 9 projects. The project's sponsors will be announced in March.
Program duration is 9 weeks: 23.06.2025-22.08.2025.
Projects can be in various fields, but all include mathematics, statistics, data analysis, and digital computing. Therefore, the program participants should have a sufficient level of knowledge and experience in mathematics and computing and be able to apply it in practice.
