The Ajiniyoz Nukus State Pedagogical Institute has been a leading educational institution for teaching in the field of pedagogy since the mid-1970s. In 1976, it gained the status of Nukus State University, and in the early 1990s, it became Karakalpak State University. After Uzbekistan achieved independence in 1991, the university was reorganized, and in 1992, it began a new chapter in its history under the name of Ajiniyoz.

The current area of the institute is 65,075 square meters, with 25,700 square meters dedicated to academic space. Today, the institute comprises 9 faculties and 1 master's degree department. The institution trains highly qualified educators in 21 bachelor's degree programs and 7 master's degree specializations. Additionally, there are 3 basic doctoral specialties available.

To enhance the effectiveness of the educational process, the institute is conducting advanced scientific research, particularly extensive studies in areas such as folk history, archaeology, ethnography, language and literature, and the examination of written and oral heritage of the Karakalpak people.

The institute's material and technical infrastructure is continuously being upgraded, ensuring all conveniences for students. Scientific and educational laboratories, internet classrooms, multimedia facilities, an information-resource center, and sports complexes provide students with extensive opportunities. The institute offers tuition fee benefits to high-achieving students and those who are actively involved in social life..

Students of the Ajiniyoz Nukus State Pedagogical Institute have achieved outstanding success not only in education but also in sports and cultural spheres. They are recognized as winners of the Republican Science Olympiad, recipients of the Presidential Scholarship of the Republic of Uzbekistan, holders of the Ulugbek and Navoi State Scholarships, as well as champions in volleyball, football, and other sports competitions.

1. Turkic Languages - Training of highly qualified specialists in the study, teaching, and translation of Turkic languages and their literature.

2. Chemistry and Biology - Teaching chemistry and biology subjects, conducting scientific research, and implementing innovative methods in the educational process.

3. Physics and Mathematics - Preparation of teachers in the fields of physics and mathematics, and implementation of modern technologies.

4. Fine Arts and Labor - Training specialists in art and design, labor education, and fostering creative activities.

5. Teaching history and geography subjects, and conducting research in these fields.

6. Primary Education - Development of methodologies and pedagogical knowledge related to the primary education system.

7. Preschool Education - Pedagogical knowledge, methodologies, and educational processes in the preschool education system.

8. Physical Education - Advancement of physical education and sports, promotion of a healthy lifestyle among students.

9. Pedagogy - Instruction in pedagogical sciences, improvement of the pedagogical system, and implementation of innovations.

Currently, the institute actively collaborates not only within the country but also with foreign higher education institutions. For example, educational and scientific cooperation has been established with leading universities in the Russian Federation and the Republic of Kazakhstan. Relationships are being strengthened with prestigious higher education institutions such as Moscow State Pedagogical University, Sochi State University, Karaganda "Bolashak" University, and others.
