Jizzax State Pedagogical University was established in 1974. Based on the relevant decree of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan in 1989, the Jizzax State Pedagogical Institute was named after Abdulla Qodiriy, the founder of the Uzbek novel school and a renowned writer. According to the Presidential Decree No. PP-289 dated June 21, 2022, "On Measures to Improve the Quality of Pedagogical Education and Further Develop the Activities of Higher Educational Institutions for Training Pedagogical Personnel," the A. Qodiriy Jizzax State Pedagogical Institute was granted the status of Jizzax State Pedagogical University.
Today, the university comprises faculties offering 28 specializations across 35 departments. The student body consists of 20,722 individuals. The university employs 731 professors and instructors.

Jizzakh State Pedagogical University engages in international cooperation with several countries in the field of education.
