The Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers began in 1923 with the establishment of the Faculty of Melioration Engineering of the Hydraulic Department of the Technical Faculty of Turkestan State University. In 1929, on the basis of the Faculty of Melioration Engineering, faculties of mechanical engineering and water management were opened, and the Central Asian Cotton Irrigation Polytechnic Institute was established.

    On March 30, 2004, by a decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers was transformed into the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Reclamation.

   In accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. PP-3003 of May 24, 2017, the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Reclamation was transformed into the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers.

   By the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated December 10, 2021 No. PP-42 "On measures to radically improve the system of training engineering and technical personnel based on innovations and digitalization for economic sectors," the institute was transformed into the National Research University "Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers."

   Currently, more than 12,300 students are studying at the university in 7 faculties in 40 areas of education and 32 master's specialties. They are taught by 410 qualified professors and teachers in 35 departments at the university, 70 of them are doctors of science, professors, 195 are candidates of science, PhD, associate professors.

  The Institute employed such prominent scientists as A.N. Askochensky, Yu.A. Zamarin, Yanishevsky, and T.N. Kori-Niyazi. Professors Sh.U. Yuldashev, A.A. Rachinsky, E.F. Fayziboev, Sh. Murodov, T.S. Khudoyberdiev, and other scientists are active.

   The university has five educational buildings, three educational laboratories that meet the requirements of the time, modern educational and scientific centers, an information resource center with a total fund of about 700 thousand seats, 3 student houses for 2400 seats, a student kitchen for 460 seats and a park. The main focus of the university team is on training highly qualified specialists for water management in a market economy, based on the objectives of the education law and the National Personnel Training Program.

   The National Research University "Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers" has independent student dormitories with a developed infrastructure. Currently, the university has four nine-story student dormitories, one three-story student dormitory, and two houses for young scientists and researchers.

  A platform ttj.tiiame.uz has been created for student accommodation, through which an online application for student accommodation is submitted and a room is allocated to them based on their applications.

  In addition, the university has launched a Telegram bot @ttj_tiiame_bot to study the proposals and appeals of students in the campus.

    To date, the TIIAME has 87 agreements and memorandums with foreign partners, which are concluded with leading European countries, the USA, Russia, developed Asian countries, and leading institutions in Central Asia. Currently, TIIAME is implementing a total of 23 international projects with a total value of $1 billion and about €700 million. The TIIAME has an international joint master's degree and an international joint doctoral degree in 4 specialties. Every year, more than 30 professors from leading foreign universities are involved in the educational and scientific process of the institute.
