Andijan State University named after Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur traces its history back to 1931. Initially, it operated as a branch of the Fergana Pedagogical Institute, and later functioned as the Andijan State Pedagogical Institute. In 1992, by decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Andijan State Pedagogical Institute was transformed into a university and named after Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur.

Currently, the university has the following 8 faculties:

Currently, six student dormitories operate at the university, with a total capacity of 3,532 places. Currently, 3,532 students reside there.

- Student dormitory No. 3 - 407 places;
- Student dormitory No. 4 - 365 places;
- Student dormitory No. 5 has 600 seats.

Andijan State University is implementing a joint educational program with 3 foreign higher educational institutions in 7 educational areas in the form of bachelor's degree (2+2) and master's degree (1+1). In the joint educational program, 4 Doctors of Science from Mordovia State University, 5 Doctors of Science from Polotsk State University, and 3 Doctors of Science from Tomsk State University conducted online webinars.
